What are the Markings on the Lifeboat as per LSA Code?

Lifeboat Markings:

The Lifeboat on board a ship shall be marked with the following, as per the requirements of the LSA COde mentioned under the international standards for Life-saving appliances required by Chapter III of SOLAS, 1974. 


The markings on the lifeboat shall be:

  • No. of persons for which the lifeboat is approved (should be clearly marked).
  • The name of the Vessel or Call sign (marked on each side of the lifeboat's bow).
  • Port of Registry of the vessel (marked on each side of the lifeboat's bow).

  • Vessels IMO number (Identification Number).

  • Lifeboat number with reference to ship. 

  • Dimensions of the lifeboat (L x B x D).
