Company Responsibility and Authority as per ISM

The company should define and document the responsibility, authority, and interrelation of all personnel who manage, perform and verify work relating to and affecting safety and pollution prevention.


The Company is responsible for ensuring the adequate resources (e.g. technical, financial, and human resources) and shore-based support are provided to ensure that safety management objectives will be achieved. 

ISM-related tasks are being carried out by the company and they should be outlined in SMS.

The company should verify that all those undertaking ISM-related tasks are performed in accordance with established procedures.

The Company should periodically review and evaluate the effectiveness of the SMS in accordance with procedures established by the Company.
